I really have no color sense, so it took me a long time to come up with this scheme. I like it, and I'm thinking I'll keep it for fall and change it back to blue for the winter.

SPEAKING OF FALL: It is my favorite season of the year, and since I started school in Eugene I don't get to enjoy the full effects at home like I used to. There's no smell of apples, somebody keeps blowing the leaves off the sidewalks (and I really wish they wouldn't; leaf imprint patterns look so cool later), and I'm usually too busy to notice how fall it is anyway. And really, it's a city, albeit a small one, and seasons are different in cities. While I do like having everything I need within the range of a brisk walk or a bus trip, I don't think I'll live in a city again when I finish school (whenever that may be). I like the peace and the quiet and the fresh air of the country too much. I'll deal with the isolation and how creepy it gets at night. I've been doing that all my life.

It looks like I'm coming up on watching Doctor Who S2 for the second time in as many weeks (although probably this time with the commentary tracks on). Jessica really wants to see Atlantis when we get back and I'm only too happy to oblige. As soon as we finish that (as well as the final two episodes of Firefly) I'm getting her addicted to the Doctor.

Today I went to Saturday Market (after a period of wandering in quite the wrong direction). I got a beautiful tye-dye shirt and a Republicans for Voldemort sticker. Downtown Eugene is pretty nice, but it's a bit of a walk. The train station's down there somewhere, which I might use next weekend to get home. I'd better travel light. I was actually trying to find the station when I found the market. On the way back I passed a guy dressed as a wizard. After this I went across campus (in the completely opposite direction) and bought my lunch for the field trip tomorrow. I got yogurt, but forgot to grab a spoon. So at dinner I nicked one from the dining hall. I'm only borrowing it. I'll put it back tomorrow. I am not a crook.

Last night a few people were playing Lord of the Rings Monopoly in the basement. I wish I'd been a part of that.

Sam got Messenger again and put me on his contact list. And last week he sent me an e-mail. It used to be I'd always initiate the communication. It's kind of nice that he's actually taking an interest in keeping in touch with me.

My plans for this evening involve a hot bath and maybe a movie on my laptop. Tomorrow I get up at 5:30.

It occurred to me today that when the Eragon movie comes out, I'll be in Eugene. I can't get over stuff like that. After living in the same place for over twenty-three years, the realization that I won't be living here anymore in a few months is quite a bit to take in. Sure, I'll come back on weekends and holidays, and I'll probably come back home after I get my Master's degree until I find a job, but I'm going to miss this place. I really love my room. I love my house, even though it's changed a lot since I was a child, mostly due to the renovation a few years ago. I love where it is -- not the Sheridan part, but the location of the house itself. I'll miss living here the way I am now. I'm sure I'll get used to it, I usually do; but it will be different. I'll probably be there also when the last Harry Potter book is released (at least I hope it doesn't take any longer than that!), as well as when that next movie comes out. I'll have to investigate the theaters in Eugene. I've also discovered a place that teaches capoeira, which I would LOVE to learn. I also expect to become something of a political activist. I'm predominantly Irish/Italian, so my blood is all fire. And there is much to burn.

I've read two hundred and fifty pages of Eldest so far today. These books have grown on me and I am in love with them now. Too bad the third one's not written yet. Blimey.
