what happened to my weekend?!
Oct. 8th, 2006 10:05 pmToday was field trip day. I got up VERY EARLY and walked all the way to Columbia Hall in the dark. Hilyard Street and campus are not pleasant when dim and deserted. I also didn't get to sleep until late last night, through no real fault of my own. The van I was in brought back memories of the one I went to Alaska in, only a little smaller. After a few stops to look at rock formations, we stopped at a little convenience store for 60 cent coffee and it was worth every penny. On the first trail, I kept getting stuck behind the old guy and he walked very slow. It was just like on the highway when an old person is driving: there was a line of students behind him, because the trail was too narrow to go around him. He's a nice guy. But not too speedy. We also went to a huge lava bed, and into a lava tube. I took lots of pictures. It was a nice trip. But I am tired now. I'm not looking forward to getting up at seven tomorrow.
I really really hope I can get a ticket to next week's home game tomorrow. I'll be at work when they first go on sale, so it's possible I won't be able to go and that'll suck. Berkely kicked our ass last night. We mourned. Then we watched Forrest Gump.
I can't believe it's going to be the third week of class. Usually the first two weeks are the slowest. If time keeps going at this pace, my two years here will be over pretty quick and I'll be off to Hawaii for grad school (one can hope). As it is I'm already a fifth of the way through the first term. Sam's birthday's next month. I probably ought to start thinking about what to get him.
