I usually do a pre-season thingy for my own funtimes, but September snuck up on my this year while I was up to my ass in ReBoot. So this is like a post-pre-season reactiony sort of whatsit.

(Oh seriously Firefox. "Snuck" isn't a word but "whatsit" and "thingy" are?)
This just needs out of my head so I can write something. )

It only took me four years, but I finally got around to watching the rest of Psych after the pilot. Better late than never!

I find it kind of ironic that Chuck lists Brandon Routh as "Special Guest Star" considering all the new ones they've ripped his character. But, I've discovered I still like the show.

Despite this. (spoiler!) )

Warehouse 13
has the episodes I missed last summer! Woohoo!

Ah, the end of another season... which always means a lot of bloodshed and emotional blackmail to get those viewers to come back next year.

Fringe - Damn! A ton of great and terrible stuff happened this year (that's terrible as in formidable or extreme, not as in bad). The people in charge of those characters are pretty much awesome with their development and the changing relationships. And since we get another season, I won't have to hate that cliffhanger ending for the rest of my days!

CSI - I was only half-there for most of the season. But stuff happened to Archie, Bobby made an appearance, and Nick got to be bleeding and awesome IN THE SAME EPISODE. With the exception of possible dead!Ray, I am quite satisfied. For now.

Criminal Minds - WTF? I used to like this show, I really did, even if it is a little bit bad. But now it just seems like they're trying WAY too hard... especially with that season finale. Are there seriously any thriller clichés they forgot to throw in there? I actually felt a little dirty after watching that. Not really something that makes me want to come back next year, but I probably will anyway (I did love Reid's haircut) - but if I have to sit through one more pathetic, spineless, helpless Damsel-in-Distress episode, I just might quit for real.

Chuck - FUCK. I'm not sure whether this is Romantic Plot Tumor, Strangled By the Red String, or both, but it's bugging the shit out of me and eclipsing everything I loved about the show. When bad forced romance overrides my need for Adam Baldwin, it is a sad day indeed. and making Superman Die For Their Ship? Not cool, you guys.

Legend of the Seeker - CANCELED! DISAPPOINTED!

Numb3rs - CANCELED... but it had a good run. Damn good for a show I didn't expect to make it past its first season. One of these days I'll get around to watching the final episodes.

Heroes - ALSO CANCELED. At least they put the poor thing out of its misery. I just feel shafted because I put all that work into catching up last winter.

Castle, FlashForward, NCIS - eh, I've not finished watching yet. As for FlashForward, I'm probably going to have to watch Star Trek after I finish it; not because Demetri may snuff it, but because there will be no more Cho Show. :(

"Spartacus is a historical depiction of ancient Rome's society and culture. The intensity of the sensuality, brutality and language is to suggest an authentic representation of that period."

But it's kind of hard to tell what with the modern hair and makeup on the ladies and the Zack Snyderness of the whole thing. They could have done the dialogue in Latin and it would still look like 300 without the interesting characters.

Doctor Who is back in two weeks? That sort of blows my mind.

Ten days until Fringe returns ... WITH SOME DAMN ANSWERS FOR A CHANGE :D

Warehouse 13 has a new season this summer woohoo!

Kali just might be my new favorite Sanctuary episode. (I'm going to have to see it again because I was too busy laughing my ass of to actually *watch* the dance.) I am quite unhappy that we have to wait until fall for new episodes (and the resolution! asflidjk!!!) but stoked that we get a full season!

Netflix seems to think these things are like Legend of the Seeker:

Lost
Highlander
Farscape
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Miami Vice

Seriously, WTF? Is there another Miami Vice where Tubbs and Crockett swing swords and save the world from demonic beasties? Or did the show get really strange after the first season?

Venture Bros is back hooray! I must remember to watch it tomorrow. WELL THAT'S WHAT THEY'D HAVE ME BELIEVE ON THEIR FACEBOOK, ANYWAY. >:(

If I can pry myself away from the Fandom Wank archives, maybe I'll get a smidgen of writing and/or knitting done. (Spin a yarn or knit it, heh heh.)

I'm enjoying being an actual member of [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants  because I can actually comment now. I doubt I'll post, at least not until I lurk for a very long time and find something that really bugs me or I can be funny about. But that doesn't happen that often. Why can't I be funnier, damn it all?

Caught up on Heroes (Mohinder made an appearance!), Legend of the Seeker (damn, I dig that underworld - everybody arrives starkers, disoriented, and there's zero personal space; it's like they all woke up in the middle of an orgy with amnesia), and all the crime dramas. I'm still behind on Chuck and Sanctuary, I keep forgetting to watch this week's Fringe, and I'm just not into Desperate Housewives right now. Maybe that one was just a phase.

It's 72° in Chennai and -4° in Yellowknife. I don't know, I just like world weather.
st_jane_ambulance: (thirteen)
Screw it all, I'm going to try and watch Heroes.
st_jane_ambulance: (nine)
Okay, right.

Fringe
- Meh, I don't care so much about the show in general, especially the direction it seems to be taking. Mostly I'm interested in Walter and Peter and their getting to be proper family again. AND WHY THE HELL PETER'S NAME IS ON THAT TOMBSTONE. Okay, I like that other guy too. That one agent. I forget his name.

Shit, Charlie.

Even so, it's the show I look forward to the most every week. And now that it's filmed in Vancouver, I know all the extras!

CSI - Season fucking TEN. Jeezus. I've been watching since season three. And seriously, something needs to happen to Nick this year. It's been way too freaking long. And I want to see Bobby Dawson again, dammit.

Still waiting.

NCIS - Poor Tony. Will he and Ziva ever mend those bridges? ETA AND I WANT MORE JIMMY PALMER DAMN IT ALL

Still needs more Jimmy.

Numbers - I failed to completely catch up with the last season. I need to do that.

This may be our last season. Charlie needs to get whumped, and fast.

Castle - Mmm, Nathan Fillion.

Mmm, Nathan Fillion. And his HILARIOUS Halloween costume. Thanks for the callback, guys.

Trauma - Paramedics? Cliff Curtis? That's all I need to know.

Evidently not.

Sanctuary - SANCTUARY!

I miss Ashley, I can't stand Kate, and I'm afraid she's going to drag the show down with her and we won't get a third season. And was it really necessary to blow up Michael Shanks?

Stargate Universe - I shall give it a chance. Mostly because of Robert Carlyle. And it may have something to do with Brad and Robert having a history of making good shows.

It is now the first Stargate show I have ever voluntarily stopped watching.

Nip/Tuck - I hope it's better than last season.

I'm sick of all this drama.

And also:

Legend of the Seeker - Richard looks nice and pretty, but where's Chase? (I'd complain about the blonde baggage, but for all I know she was in the book.)

Venture Bros. - Getting weirder every year.

Chuck - Bring on season three! With fewer supervixens plz. (Aw hell, I know that's not going to happen. But I can dream!)

Desperate Housewives - MOAR KYLE MACLACHLAN OM NOM NOM

ETA Heroes - MOAR SENDHIL RAMAMURTHY OM NOM NOM (and fix Hiro plz)

It's my 500th post on LJ yay!

Let's talk entertainment.

Shows start again this month - most of them. Unfortunately, I don't have TV, so I have to watch what I can online. Here's what I'm looking at and what I'd like to see happen this year.

Fringe - Meh, I don't care so much about the show in general, especially the direction it seems to be taking. Mostly I'm interested in Walter and Peter and their getting to be proper family again. AND WHY THE HELL PETER'S NAME IS ON THAT TOMBSTONE. Okay, I like that other guy too. That one agent. I forget his name.

Sanctuary - SANCTUARY!

Stargate Universe - I shall give it a chance. Mostly because of Robert Carlyle. And it may have something to do with Brad and Robert having a history of making good shows.

Nip/Tuck - I hope it's better than last season.

Unfortunately I will not be watching Criminal Minds, one of my favorite shows, because it's not fucking available online. >:(

As y'all may have noticed, I've gone sort of retro in the last couple of months. Here's the rundown.

Battlestar Galactica - not exactly new to me, but it was probably the first time I watched nearly all of it straight through, and watching it again was directly responsible for two other shows I got into.

The A-Team - I found out Dirk Benedict was in it (and there seriously wasn't enough BSG). It was fun at first, but got kind of repetitive and Face just didn't get hurt often enough for me. Until the very last episode.

Emergency! - because of a combination of an old BSG and a new Criminal Minds, an unusual name, beautiful hair, and an incident of channel-flipping, I got into this show, which has sort of changed my life. Randolph Mantooth is the name of the guy responsible. I remembered liking him from the first time I saw that BSG episode years ago and liked him again the second time. I saw his name again DAYS LATER on a brand-new Criminal Minds (thirty years older), looked him up, and saw that he was in a show I stumbled upon while browsing for something to watch one afternoon. Lucky for me, the show was on Hulu and I'd liked it enough the first time (even though I was barely paying attention) to watch some more. It is one of my favorite shows. I'm going to try to become a paramedic because of it. And apparently I'm not the only one.

Simon & Simon - What can I say? BROTHERS. AJ's pretty and sensitive and gets traumatized often enough. It doesn't hurt that he bears a resemblance to a young Mark Hamill.

Starsky and Hutch - Wow. This show was much more hardcore than I ever expected. People die. Girlfriends get dispatched. Forcible heroin addiction. But more than that, there's something about a pair of guys who are so close that they will repeatedly move heaven and earth to help one another without a second thought. There's that much love. AND HUTCH SINGS. (Except season four, with that moustache... dammit, Hutch. Was that necessary?)

There you have it. I don't think I can go any farther back in time than this because it will all be too fluffy. I like my characters emotionally damaged. My one issue with this era is that women seem to be able (in most shows) to to little else than get kidnapped, be held hostage, and cower in terror. What's up with that? Princess Leia was no wimp.

1. All those years they were sliding, and nobody thought of maybe carrying some basic supplies with them? Food, water, first aid kit, and flashlight at the very least? This kills me.

2. Methos and Kronos were BOTH in Queen of Swords! How funny is that?

3. Methos was not in Highlander enough. Not nearly.

The ad at the top of my page just alterted me that NBC.com has full episodes of the oldskool Battlestar Galactica. Frakkin' A!

We kind of had an impromptu mini SGA John Sheppard whump-a-thon last night, because we missed Atlantis. And I missed whumped!Johnny. And after catching up on network season finales, I needed a pick-me-up. CSI seriously made me cry for probably the first time ever.

Considering just buying the Doctor Who DVD every year, because waiting a week (or two!) between every episode is messing with my happy.

movies!

Yesterday I saw Cloverfield, which was freaky and kind of awesome. There was a teaser for Star Trek and a trailer for Hellboy II, which I'm going to have to see now even if Jonh Myers isn't in it. With any luck, they'll make a third and he'll be available that time. The movie just looks too freaking awesome to miss. Also there was a promo for Iron Man, which looked neat.

I'm totally on a Numb3rs kick and by the end of this week I should have both of the first two seasons. David Krumholtz is like the hottest guy on earth to me at the moment. Rob Morrow ain't so bad either.

On a slightly related subject, I'm thinking of getting a second bachelors degree, possibly in mathematics.

Everybody on tv got pwned on Friday night. It was beautiful.

I have Numb3rs season 1! Mathorific!

I've finally found an LJ design I might stick with, I've been watching far too much Boston Legal for my own good (so much that my internal voice is now sounding like James Spader), and I think I incinerated a mouse that was living under the stove top.

I am now caught up on Storm Hawks, which has finally started airing again.

I really have no color sense, so it took me a long time to come up with this scheme. I like it, and I'm thinking I'll keep it for fall and change it back to blue for the winter.

SPEAKING OF FALL: It is my favorite season of the year, and since I started school in Eugene I don't get to enjoy the full effects at home like I used to. There's no smell of apples, somebody keeps blowing the leaves off the sidewalks (and I really wish they wouldn't; leaf imprint patterns look so cool later), and I'm usually too busy to notice how fall it is anyway. And really, it's a city, albeit a small one, and seasons are different in cities. While I do like having everything I need within the range of a brisk walk or a bus trip, I don't think I'll live in a city again when I finish school (whenever that may be). I like the peace and the quiet and the fresh air of the country too much. I'll deal with the isolation and how creepy it gets at night. I've been doing that all my life.

It looks like I'm coming up on watching Doctor Who S2 for the second time in as many weeks (although probably this time with the commentary tracks on). Jessica really wants to see Atlantis when we get back and I'm only too happy to oblige. As soon as we finish that (as well as the final two episodes of Firefly) I'm getting her addicted to the Doctor.
