It's almost the end of the school year and things are hectic. German group projects are coming up, I have three papers to write, and sending in my financial aid and housing papers to worry about, which is especially stressful since my dad isn't here to help me out. There's a preliminary bibliograpy for one paper due on Thursday and I first heard about a few hours ago. This morning I was up early to sign up for finals week work hours and pick up the sheet for next fall's work hours, and this afternoon I signed up for fall classes. I'm also seriously behind on all my homework. Thank GOD there's a three-day weekend coming up fast.

However, there are some uplifting signs: I've had two assignments handed back this week with As on them, one of which was a three-pager I wrote in a couple of hours the night before it was due on a lot of caffeine. Nothing was written on it about the actual content, although the teacher did have the gall to correct some of MY grammar. Who dares! Anyway, that's at least got my confidence up for the next paper due for that class. The source report for Dante, which I was so worried about and thought I did horrible on, also did well. Sam was lording it over me that he graduated magna cum laudi, and that I had "work to do." Of course, his school has less than a tenth of the number of students and he spent a year at Waseda where they didn't teach him anything. And he took one class at a time. Jerk.

Next fall classes are German 201, Medieval Britain (at 8:30!), and History of Modern Europe. I have no class on Thursdays, and only at 1:00 on Tuesays and Fridays. The 8:30 is twice a week, and I may have convinced Jessica to take it with me. I'm kind of freaking out about everything I have to do in the next couple of weeks. I'm sooo glad I dropped Old English or I'd have a breakdown. Fortunately, it looks like I'll be able to go home on Tuesday again.

All my friends left me and went to an anime con in Seattle this weekend. And while I've gotten quite a bit of homework done, I'm just a bit lonely. I've more or less locked myself in my room and stayed the hell away from the dining halls. I hate eating there alone. For the last three days I've been living on peanut butter sandwiches, goldfish, and microwave maccaroni. And reading. A lot. They come back today, but I have no idea how late.

Even with the whole weekend I don't know if I'll be able to get all my homework done (partly because I get bored stiff after four or five hours and need to do something else), and this will be my best chance to do much at all. Jess and I are going to be cramming Stargate the rest of the week, and we may have to skip a few episodes for the time being because we have over two seasons to get through and new episodes start on Friday (that's right, bitch! FRIDAY!). After that we can take our liesurely time with Atlantis and Firefly.

Apparently it's not a problem with my shoe, it's a problem with my heel, because it's happened with two different shoes. I hope it gets better soon, because walking five miles in sandals is not fun.

As if being under a mountain of homework wasn't bad enough, now I've caught a nasty chest cold that's wiping me out. Usually I get head colds, but instead of constantly blowing my nose, I'm coughing up phlegm and my head spins when I move it too much.

I've got a ten-page paper due next week that I haven't really started yet on a thousand-year-old poem in a dead language. I figure I'll just analyze the hell out of it, and since nobody really knows what it means, I can say whatever I want as long as I can back it up with text. I'm not too worried about it. I'm staying home from classes tomorrow, partly because I need the time to do homework, and partly because I might pass out if I get any worse than I was today. I'll be spending Saturday morning filming our German rip-off of Iron Chef, so I'll need my strength for that.

Jessica and I are going to be roomates next year! Seriously, she's the one person I know here I could live with, and she needs to be in a double for cost reasons or else get an apartment. She'll be the only one of my friends still here next year, and I want to stay in the dorms. So we'll be roomies. We're going to try our damndest to get our own bathroom. We've been watching Stargate SG-1 for half the term, because she hasn't seen it. Last week we finished season 5. Woot! If only we had time to do six before the break. But homework came to bite us in the ass. She has the same ten-page that I do 'cause we're both in Old English.

It turns out that I'm astoundingly behind on my upper-division credts, moreso than I thought. I'll have to take two terms of 17 credits and two of 21 to graduate next year. Which means I'll be up to my ass in homework for more than a year and probably have to take some time off before grad school. I really don't want to spend another year getting my bachelor's degree, partly because living here costs so much. Next term I have lined up Old English III (Beowulf!), Dante in Translation, German 103, Late Middle Ages History, and Italian Longsword (which I'm really excited about). I also want to take an Ancient Maya class because 1) four upper-div credits 2) it's at a time that works for me 3) three of my friends are taking it. It might be full by the time I get to sign up, but I'll go the first day and wait for somebody to drop it. That class will put me at 22 credits. Let's hope my brian doesn't explode. That's nine credits more than what I'm barely surviving now, but most of that is due to the amount of time spent slacking off with friends and watching Stargate.

Speaking of Stargate, I saw the promos for the second half of the season of both shows last night, and I am excited to DEATH about them. Episodes return in five weeks!!!

I probably shouldn't have waited until week 7 to really start working on that 10-page paper that's due the last week of term. I feel a little terrified now.
