Nov. 3rd, 2007 10:14 pmGood news bad news about the Inheritance Trilogy. The good news is the third book is coming out September 08 (!). Bad news is it's no longer a trilogy. I have to wait for a whole 'nother book. Damn it all.
I, on the other hand, have been writing nothing. Except papers.
Last night I got the new Stargate magazine, a GRE prep book, and played Guitar Hero III. And, of course, watched Atlantis, which was again awesome. It seems that now that there's only one show the producers/writers/directors are giving it their all. There had damn well better be a fifth season, because it's too freaking good this year for them to cancel it.

I fail at midterms
Nov. 1st, 2007 06:16 pmWhen did I get so bad at college?
I always think I bomb at least one midterm, but this time I was actually right. My Medieval Britain essay was, apparently, "too short". I've been given the chance to redo it as a take-hope, but it still pisses me off that he expected six pages or more (just because that's what everybody else wrote) when he gave us two days to study for it. I was given until Monday to make it up, which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have another five page paper due that day. This basically means I'm going to be working straight through the weekend. I would have all today, but I had to write a German thing for tomorrow and that took three hours. I want like hell for this term to be over.
Since a good part of this went down early yesterday morning, I didn't really get to enjoy Halloween as much as I usually do.
Nip/Tuck is different this year, but I like it. I will miss the constrant threat of bodily harm that's been a constant through the other seasons, and hopefully they'll bring it back. We missed Criminal Minds last night because we were taping due to an Apples to Apples game and for some reason the TV was an hour behind. Jessica's now completely caught up on Atlantis and Firefly and we're starting to watch Doctor Who. We've seen about half the episodes of Moonlight and are planning to catch up on the rest as soon as we get around to downloading them.
I got paid today, and my paycheck for a partial month was bigger than most of the ones I had last year. Best thing so far about the last two days. Also, two people commented me on my DW scarf. I only wore it for the morning because it was threatening to choke me.

Oct. 25th, 2007 05:45 pmThere's no CSI tonight, (sad), but tomorrow is super-fun Atlantis :). Johnny's gonna get whumped like so bad.
The lines for Carson dining hall duirng mealtimes suck, the new design is crappy, and the food is less than good most of the time. Its only redeeming factor is nightly late-night pizza for low pointage, and it's damn good pizza. I was all excited about getting a dining hall in the building, and I hardly ever use it.
Voltaire is fun.

gaah, midterms
Oct. 24th, 2007 05:11 pmCollege is starting to piss me off. Most specifically, my Medieval Britain professor who gives us a total of two days to study for the midterm. My two busiest days of the week, no less. The same was true for our first paper. In my other history class we have two and a half weeks for the paper.
Have been watching lots of NCIS, Criminal Minds, and South Park, and really, really enjoying this season of Atlantis. John's getting his share of the whumping and it's only been four episodes.
...and I just watched John Williams conduct the Boston Pops at the World Series. Spectacular.
Last weekend I went home, and it was good. My kitty was happy to see me.

Sep. 16th, 2007 04:49 pmWhile college shopping with my mom, we ran into another mother and daughter college shopping in the detergent aisle, and the girl was also headed for UO. Just like 40% of Oregon, but it's still fun.
On a related note, I have Apple Mango Tango laundry detergent. I'm going to have the fruitiest-smelling clothes in Carson.
And finally the hairpins I've been looking EVERYWHERE for.
The Stargate magazine assures us that Carson Beckett will return for TWO EPISODES this season. Woot!
All the news on the TV movies for SG-1 points to some pretty awesome shit happening. I wish they'd quit taunting us and show them already.
Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge are developing their own tv show, called Rage of Angels, and I damn well better get to see it. Shanks is playing Luficer. (!!)
I so want a Col. John Sheppard action figure, because he's got the smirk and the messy hair and is just so funny to look at and yet so perfect. If they havent made Rodney yet they need to put on his "I'm a genius and you're an idiot" face.
I'm happy I'll be living on the fifth floor, because I can take the stairs and fit back into all my jeans in no time. I'd just better remember to do my inner leg exercises so I don't get freaking runner's knee again. That was such a bitch.
Alas, I have no more white mocha. But I do have chocolate-covered pretzels!

the age of autumn
Sep. 14th, 2007 12:01 pmI really have no color sense, so it took me a long time to come up with this scheme. I like it, and I'm thinking I'll keep it for fall and change it back to blue for the winter.
SPEAKING OF FALL: It is my favorite season of the year, and since I started school in Eugene I don't get to enjoy the full effects at home like I used to. There's no smell of apples, somebody keeps blowing the leaves off the sidewalks (and I really wish they wouldn't; leaf imprint patterns look so cool later), and I'm usually too busy to notice how fall it is anyway. And really, it's a city, albeit a small one, and seasons are different in cities. While I do like having everything I need within the range of a brisk walk or a bus trip, I don't think I'll live in a city again when I finish school (whenever that may be). I like the peace and the quiet and the fresh air of the country too much. I'll deal with the isolation and how creepy it gets at night. I've been doing that all my life.
It looks like I'm coming up on watching Doctor Who S2 for the second time in as many weeks (although probably this time with the commentary tracks on). Jessica really wants to see Atlantis when we get back and I'm only too happy to oblige. As soon as we finish that (as well as the final two episodes of Firefly) I'm getting her addicted to the Doctor.

headed for the finish line
Sep. 5th, 2007 12:35 amHappy day, my ReBoot video is finally finished, and after many frustrating and questionable mishaps, saved without any damage to the synchrony (word?). I figured out a way around saving the video in separate pieces, which always seems to ruin that.
Season 8 is not as fun as the earlier X-Files. Not by a long shot. I sort of knew that, but I didn't realize the intenisty of the "is this seriously X-Files?" feeling until I watched half the season. For some reason it was going okay until Mulder came back, and then it just felt weird. I'm not sure how I managed to watch every episode of those last two seasons on air.
I'm almost CRAVING Atlantis. I'm not sure why.
Just over two weeks until I move again, and I'm starting to get restless. What the hell happened to my summer?

Jun. 28th, 2007 09:03 amI FINISHED MY GRYFFINDOR SCARF!!!
...sort of. I still needs tassels, but I ran out of yarn. And I think I gave myself tendonitis.
I finished at three in the morning. Why do I finish everything at three in the morning?
Because of a VCR malfunction, I have not yet seen the VERYLAST/FINAL/ULTIMATE EPISODE OF SG-1. And strangely I'm not as upset about that as I think I ought to be. I'm a little more miffed that Atlantis isn't coming back until September. And seriously, season 10 comes out on DVD in like less than a month. I'm also madder about the state Doctor Who left me in after seeing last Saturday's episode.

I should never post in the middle of a Friday.
At five Steven (one of the RAs) got a bunch of us and we went to see Spider-Man 3. Damn, the lines are long in Eugene! And although I would have been less pissed at the movie if my favorie had not died AGAIN, with the exception of a very specific ten minutes or so I liked the first two better. I might buy the DVD anyway, just to have Peter and Harry kicking as together which I've been waiting to see how long I cannot tell you! It was definitley the highlight for me.
The movie got out about 10, which meant Jessica and I barely got back in time for Stargate. I was a bit worried when the bus started making unnerving sounds halfway to the station. In any case, the episode: Adria planted one on Daniel and had a feeling about it a while ago, but it was still a surprise to see it! I already knew he was a (temporary) prior a LONG time ago. I guessed first, then spoilers confirmed it. Damn spoilers. But overall the episode was lighter than I'd expected. Jack and Daniel bickering, just like old times. Unfortunately iTunes hasn't got its shit together and uploaded anything from last night, or I'd be downloading it right now. On Atlantis they threatened to let Rodney ascend, which would have been something new for the books. I have a feeling the Ancients would have kicked him out within five minutes. That episode was fun too.
Anyway, that's my super-exciting evening, but I forgot to eat and now I'm starting to get hungry.
VALA HAS HER DANIEL BACK!!!
If Adria wants him, she'll have to fight her. This could get ugly.

on a fling with destiny
Apr. 23rd, 2007 08:24 pmReasons I'm happy today (despite it being Monday and work being more boring than usual):
- I'm a brunette again (my roots were clashing with the red)
- I have a white hot chocolate from Starbucks
- Michael Shanks will be on 24 next week (!!!)
- I have manageable homework now that I dropped Old English (honestly, I can translate Beowulf on my own at this point)
- I know it's spring, because my muse has woken up and is poking at me steadily saying "write...write...write..."
- Stargate is so BACK (and soon to be whupping ass in as many as three galaxies - once Daniel's back in the show, of course)
- I read an excerpt from the third book in the Inheritance trilogy (Eragon was the first) which made me remember, GOD, just how much I love those books and I really hope it's coming out this summer, because that would be kick-ass if I got that AND Harry Potter. . .but then I would be out of things to read
Speaking of Eragon, I had the most bizarre dream about the movie, but it wasn't the movie exactly and for some reason Ben Browder was in it. Saphira wasn't, and neither was Eragon, actually, although Jeremy Irons did make an apperrance. I don't know what the hell that was all about, but now I want to read the books again. They are, unfortunately, a good 70 miles away at the moment.
Jessica and I finally finished watching SG-1! Okay, we skipped two episodes. But they were clip shows and one of them is my absolute least favorite episode. Onward Atlantis! (And after that, Firefly!)

Mar. 16th, 2007 02:02 pmClasses are finally OVER. I have three final exams and a paper due on Monday, and I work Tuesday morning and then I go home. I'm signed up for 18 credits next term and I might get to add Old Norse *squee!* and I really hope my brain doesn't cave in from the stress. In four days I get to see my parents, my cats, my dog, and hopefully some of my friends. I'll get to lay around at home and make fanvids and knit and watch movies with my mom. I only resent that spring break is so damn short. I'm bringing back my bike, my teapot, and probably even more movies. Waiting for me at home are Stargate Atlantis season 2 and Escape from Mars.
FOUR WEEKS UNTIL NEW STARGATE! THE FINAL TEN EPISODES OF SG-1!!!
Well, if I wasn't there for the beginning, at least I can be there for the end.

where did this social life come from?
Feb. 11th, 2007 01:26 amI'm dyeing my hair tomorrow. I semipromise pictures.
On Wednesday we went to Borders and the liquor store, and I have Stargate Atlantis season 1 and Duggan's Irish Creme. I've tried quite a few different alcohols this week, but I have yet to be drunk. Which is good. I have discovered that a drink or two in the evening makes me fall asleep faster and I've been resting quite well this weekend. I have also discovered that Parrot Bay rum with pineapple is quite good in Wild Cherry Pepsi.
Yesterday we went to Valley River Center, and I got JEANS! and a new belt and a coat that was on sale. The jeans need stretching out, but they look awesome and jeans from Buckle fit better than any I've found anywhere else, even if they are more expensive than they have any right to be. I didn't buy anything at Hot Topic and I'm proud of myself for that. We also went to Torrid, which is really hot fashions for plus sizes because a couple of my friends fit into and love their stuff. I love that stuff, too. I'm a little sad that I don't fit in any of it.
Tonight we had dinner at Applebee's, and my steak was yummy and Sobe Adrenaline Rush with orange vodka is not bad. It was very hot and stuffy in the restaurant, though, and by the time we left I was starting to get a headache. I now have fun new products for my hair, and dye that I decided to buy in a rare fit of spontanaety. Mom will be surprised next weekend when she comes to visit.
Jessica and I are making our way through Stargate SG-1. She wants to see every episode, and who am I to suggest otherwise? I found out today, however, that SHE HAS NOT SEEN THE MOVIE! If I had known this, I would have had her watch that first, as it's kind of important. We'll have to watch it later. I like going through the whole series again, and it's fun to watch it with someone other than myself for a change. Usually I have to force people to watch with me. It's eight weeks, by the way, until new episodes start up again. I am so uber-excited.
I've been on city buses more times in the past two weeks than EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Aug. 26th, 2006 03:48 pmAdria, she's a big fat bitch
she's the biggest bitch in the whole wide world,
she's a big old bitch, she's an Ori bitch,
she's a bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch!
That's pretty much the first thing that comes to mind for last night's SG-1. Bitch better keep her paws off my Daniel. Sci Fi may be done with the show after this season, but at least the producers aren't. Good for them.
Atlantis thoughts? Tortured Johnny! Leather Jacket! There's nothing about any of that I didn't like. Except the crappy aged make-up job he had to wear for half the episode. He looked better blue and scaly.

Jun. 28th, 2006 10:58 pmI saw Superman Returns this afternoon. I was pleased. That Brandon Routh has the most wonderful face and I have to draw it. He and James Marsden's character didn't even fight, which I expected them to, and I'm glad they didn't. That actually would have been a little too much like X-Men, actually. Anyway, now they can have a threesome or something. And don't get me started on how delightfully evil Kevin Spacey was as Lex Luthor. He was having far too much fun, I'm sure of it. The original theme music and opening credits were an awesome touch. Nobody ever made theme music like John Williams. I'm not sure anyone ever will. And Bryan Singer, for your information, knows how to treat James Marsden right. He shouldn't let Brett Ratner play with him anymore.
I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow for a change in allergy meds and probably some vaccinations. That should be oodles of fun. I can't wait to have lights shined up my nose and needles in my arm.
I've decided to watch a few of my favorite Stargate SG-1 episodes (okay, it's like a hundred -- there are a lot of good episodes) to get psyched for the new seasons. Unfortunately I don't have any Atlantis except for what I've taped, and my tapes are so screwed up I don't know what's on them anymore. Apparently we get to see Carson cry this season, as well as comfort from Sheppard in the form of a hanky. Aaaaww! If only he'd hug him. But he got kissed by Rodney last year, so that's probably more than I should ask for at this point.

May. 25th, 2006 11:04 pmI have recently realized that I have this thing where I cannot continue a story unless I get the first page to my satisfaction. Usually I have to rewrite the page several times before this happens.
I just watched Darklight, and now I have a David Hewlett craving. He's the only reason I watched it, I swear. I also got to see a sneak peek of Atlantis season 3! WOOT! I must go and read McShep slash.
Season Two of Venture Bros. begins in ONE MONTH!!!
