Some things never change

I have to blog about the new X-Files movie while I still have my head full of it.
It is this: different, but not in a bad way. There wasn't a hell of a lot in the way of supernatural, and the actual case wasn't. Not a big deal for me. Some of my favorite episodes were the more old-fashioned serial killer hunt kind of thing. When I don't know whether there's going to be any more after this, it wasn't my first choice - that would be Mulder kicking some serious alien ass - but this would have been my second. (Although the date set for the colonization is only a few years off, so you never know. Here's hoping.)
Same old Mulder. He's still got his sunflower seed fixation and the pencils in the ceiling. The beard was a surprise, but (thankfully) temporary. I can't say how pleased I was that he got to wear civvies for the whole thing, because he always looked so good in jeans (and without a shirt too! We got a little bit of everything!). He didn't change one bit, and I'm glad for that. I like his good old wise-cracking, smart-ass, constantly injured self, and I wouldn't have him any other way. (Except kicking alien butt.) I noticed we also seem to be continuing the tradition of whumping the poor bastard. :D
I'd have to say that probably my favorite moment was when Skinner was cradling an injured Mulder. In the case of this show I've always been a straight shipper, but the slasher in me kind of went wild. It was too sweet.
The two-headed dog, on the other hand, was rather creepy.
I have got to start collecting this series.
